Learning German – Nice to Meet You

One of the phrases in German that always brings a smile to my face (because of the way it rolls off my tongue) is the phrase for ‘nice to meet you.’

Nett dich kennenzulernen

Nett – nice

Dich – you (you in the accusative form)

Kennen lernen – this is a fun one:

So the word ‘kennen’ means ‘to know’ and the word lernen means ‘to learn.’ So putting them together practically translates to getting to know someone.

I’m not going into too much detail over ‘zu

It’s one of those nice phrases that makes sense when you translate it :-D

It’s very nett 😉
