Ah yes, it’s time for another food porn post. I know that I do a lot of these on a Friday so maybe I should start calling it Food Porn Friday……but I don’t want to commit to ONLY food porn on Fridays….
Anyway, /rant….
So today I decided to post a Peruvian favorite that is a hit for all: Lomo Saltado
Awwwwwww man, I totally want to eat that now!
What is it? It’s suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper simple:
Start with some rice. Now in Germany, someone came up with the brilliant ideas of having the rice portion in a little bag and boiling it inside. It’s awesome, I haven’t burned rice since and it has taken away the need to buy a rice cooker. Loves it!
Then you need potatoes…either baked french fries, french fries, diced and fried…..whatever. This time I was lazy and opted for a portion of McDonald’s fries:
Now it’s time for the important part: the meat of goodness!
As you can see, I diced up the steak into nice bite size pieces. Then I also mixed in some peppers and onions. All will be sauteed together in a pot.
As you may remember from my Rosti post – I love me some herbs and add them wherever I can. You may notice the jar labeled “Peru Food.” It’s a paste of red pepper called Aji Panca. I brought this with me from the states, so sorry Germans – you will have to find an alternative.
So then you throw all the lovelies in the pot and cook:
mmmmmmmm delicious!!!
When it comes to seasoning the meat – use what you want. The fun of this recipe is it is easy to make it your own. Use what you want and experiment.
When it’s all done, just mix and eat.
So what do you think? Would would/do you do differently?
Have a wonderful weekend and Bis Montag!!!!
I love it!
