The title is weird – I know. My husband and I were talking about German idioms and how funny they are (especially when translated into English), it made me think about how they could be a good idea as spring board in world building.

We need to be careful (and by we, I mean sci fi/fantasy authors) about using phrases and idioms that are specific to our language and culture. When creating new worlds – we need think outside the box.
