The name “La Mari” comes from my Peruvian side of the family. Whenever people would talk about me, they would always refer to me as La Mari.
I first created this blog as a way to communicate to friends and family back home about my travels to the United Kingdom back in 2011. If you want to read about my adventures in the U.K. Start Here…
We had a long distance relationship for the first year. He was in Germany and I in the states. We decided to try and make it work by asking for transfers within both of our companies so we could move closer together.
As of June of 2014, I moved to Germany with my pug Abner to start a new life and new job with my (at the time) German boyfriend, T. We got an apartment in Ueberlingen, Germany on Lake Constance for about four years.
I knew my friends and family would miss me back home in the States so I had decided to revive this blog as a way to allow them to follow me on my journey of preparing for the move as well as the move itself.
At the time, I had a little pug named Abner. He was the love of my life and I knew he had to move with me to Germany so I documented everything I did to get him ready for the big flight HERE.
Since having moved to Germany, Abner and I have experienced a lot including getting married!
I am currently science fiction and fantasy author with two books out as well as a free short just for signing up for my newsletter!
I hope everyone can use this blog to learn from my experiences in traveling alone, moving to a foreign country for love or just adventures as a writer.

Hi La Mari!
I am a television producer working on the US travel show ‘House Hunters International’. We are looking for English speaking expats who have recently moved to Germany to feature on our show. I wonder if you might like to share your story?
House Hunters International is a half-hour TV show currently airing on the Home and Garden Television Network (HGTV) in America. The series is designed to de-mystify the international home-buying / renting process, by going behind the scenes of a house hunt where expats and their real estate agents tour 3 homes. At its core, House Hunters International is a travel show concentrating on the idiosyncrasies of the locales and what makes them special and different.
Here is a link to show you what our show is all about!
We would love to film in Germany again so please get in touch if you or any of your contacts might be interested in finding out more!

Thank you so much for the email! Unfortunately T and I are not in the market for a new apartment or house but keep in touch and maybe down the line we may be interested.
My name is Nadine, and I work for InterNations.org, maybe you have already heard of us? If not, with over 1.4 Million members, InterNations is the no.1 worldwide community for expats and global minds, offering its members the opportunity to network, socialize and find expat-relevant information online and offline.
The reason I am contacting you is that your blog about living in Germany as an expat through your unique international point of view would fit just wonderfully in our Recommended Expat Blogs Germany Section! I really like your blog and I am sure that our members would love having access to it.
If you are interested in having your blog featured on our website (InterNations.org) or have any other questions please let me know!
I hope to hear from you soon and have a great day!
Oh wow! Thank you! I am glad you like my blog and I do hope that I can continue to reach out and give them some insight of what I learned as I am learning them.

Let me know if there is anything I need to do. 🙂
Hello, I love your blog and videos. I have a Crailsheim question. Are you in Crailsheim or in Dresden or elsewhere?
Hi! Thank you! I do actually live close to Crailsheim. The Dresden address is because German law requires you have an address that is posted for all to see and it’s a service I pay for so I don’t have to post my personal address.
